Will Carter Band’s Texas Roots Exposed on New Album Had It All Wrong: All Four Singles Hit Texas Charts Ahead of July 5th Release

Houston, TX-(July 1, 2024)-Houston’s own Will Carter Band has diligently cultivated their pathway through the thick Texas music soil over the last year as they ready for the release of their new album Had It All Wrong on July 5th. Songs from the forthcoming album are already very familiar to music fans with the first four singles embraced at radio, consistently hitting the Top 30 on the Texas charts including their latest break up anthem “Had Me At Goodbye.” The official music video premiered on Stars Over Texas TV where the Will Carter Band was also the channel’s featured ”Artist Of The Month,” and also appeared on CMT.com, The Heartland Network, The Family Channel, RightNow TV and YouToo TV.   The album has also won favor from music influencers including American Songwriter Magazine, CMT and Americana Highways.

With a dozen singles releases under their belt, three of those crossing over to Nashville’s Music Row Chart, the Will Carter Band harnessed that Nashville sound for years.  When it came time to record Had It All Wrong, Will decided to bring every aspect of it back to Texas giving it a more homegrown flavor.

We're very excited about this album.  We’ve had great success in the past recording in Nashville and Los Angeles, but this time I wanted the music to capture the essence of this band, the essence of Texas, and our place within it. So rather than using out-of-state studios, producers and session musicians, I decided to bring this band of musicians that I've been playing with for years into a Texas studio to make a record that sounds like we do when we perform on a Texas stage. We're getting great feedback from the industry, and we think fans are going to love this.”

The lyrical craftiness that fans have come to expect from WCB is alive and kicking throughout this new collection that stretch the emotional plain with songs about the perfect lover to the perfect breakup to the perfect kind of life. “Raised Up Round Here” is a homecoming salute that marks the core message of the album. “Masterpiece” is your go to if you are in a mind to revel in the absolute perfection of true love, and “Front Porch Life” takes it down to the contentment found in easy ways and lazy days.  But the album also bears hard muscle for the polar opposite side of your delicate sensibilities.  The album’s fifth single “Your Love Looks Good On Me” will be released on September 9th and comes in with a brisk swagger intending to stay way past last call.

"There's a lot of songs about viewing someone in love from a third party perspective.  'You Look So Good In Love' by George Strait and 'You Look Like A Love Song' by Russell Dickerson, etc.  I thought it would be cool to write about the inverse of that, from a first person perspective.  'Your Love Looks Good On Me' is a fun way of expressing the acknowledgement of that inward observation."

The Will Carter Band is comprised of seasoned musicians including Will Carter (lead vocals, rhythm guitar), Dillan Dostal (lead guitar), Bobby Tapia (bass), Jacob Lee (drums), and Bino (fiddle, keys, and percussion).  The band and its members’ have earned nominations for numerous awards, including Will Carter’s four consecutive nominations for “Male Vocalist of the Year” and “Songwriter of the Year”, a “Band of the Year” nomination in 2022, and Bobby Tapia’s 2022 nomination for “Bassist of the Year” at the Texas Country Music Awards.  The band consistently performs 150 plus shows a year and will continue to greet fans at music venues and festivals this summer.

Will Carter and the band exude summer vibes on ‘Front Porch Life.’ The arrangement sets the mood for the kind of song that makes the heat feel a little more comfortable and the cold beverages go down a little easier. That, combined with Carter’s vocal delivery makes this a strong contender for the song of the summer.” -American Songwriter Magazine
